AFFIRM Programs Recognized
AFFIRM Youth is currently the only evidence-based affirmative CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) intervention for LGBTQ+ youth. It is the only intervention program for LGBTQ+ youth to receive recognition from the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC) and is rated as having promising research evidence.
AFFIRM Caregiver was added to the CEBC website in 2026. This intervention is rated as ‘high’ level for Child Welfare System Relevance and rated NR (not able to be rated) for Scientific Rating. Please visit our FAQ page for more information on this rating.
AFFIRM Youth and AFFIRM Caregiver programs are included as gold standard examples for Culturally Adapting Interventions for Under resourced Communities in SAMHSA’s resource guide.
AFFIRM has also been recognized as a suicide prevention strategy in the SAMHSA Evidence Based Guide: Suicide Prevention Strategies for Underserved Youth
